PS6 (PlayStation 6): Launch Date, News, Price, Hardware and What more to Expect?

PS6 launch date
PS6 Launch Date

Gaming has come a long way since it began in the 1970s. There was a time when only arcades couldPS offer gamers the opportunity to experience the thrill of playing video games. Today, gaming is a multimillion-dollar industry that is enjoyed by people of all ages.

In this growing gaming world, Sony has already made a strong foundation by launching their gaming consoles popularly known as PS’s (PlayStation). Currently, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 & PS5 are already present in the market with great demand. After PS5, everyone is looking forward to the PS6 launch.

As the most recent PS5 (PlayStation 5) was released recently in November 2020 with a price of $499.9, so the next PlayStation has a good time to be launched. But there is nothing wrong with discussing what we can expect from PlayStation 6 (dreaming) and what features Sony is thinking to include in the upcoming PlayStation.

When will the PlayStation 6 be Launched?

The launch date of PlayStation 6 is not yet announced by the officials and we won’t be able to see PS6 very soon. But looking at Sony’s past behavior we can get probability about the release of Sony’s PS6 so we can finally get our hands on a Play Station 6. Even if there is a long time before PlayStation 6 is available in the market, there is nothing wrong with predicting the future.

But before PS6 would release, we can be certain to see a PS5 Pro or Slim version hop into the market. As the name says, PS5 Pro would be an upgraded version of PS5 with increased Disk Space, Processing Power and much more. There is no confirmed date regarding the release of PS5 Pro or Slim but we can expect it to come near the end of this year.

In 2019, Sony’s Masayasu Ito (Executive VP of Hardware Engineering) in an interview explained:

Indeed, in the past life, the cycle for a new platform was seven to 10 years, but because of the rapid development and evolution of technology, it’s a six to seven-year platform cycle.

With this statement, we can expect a PS6 to release someday in 2026 i.e., six years later after the release of the PS5 (2020).

PS6 to be Launched with a Price of $599?

The PlayStations launched in the past years were in the price range of $400 to $500. And currently, we don’t have much idea about the hardware changes, extra features or other improvements the next generation PlayStation could have that can help us estimate the price range of PS6 (PlayStation 6).

But as PS6 would surely be an upgraded version of present PlayStations so the price range can be between $500 to $600.

Are there any Major Hardware changes?

Providing many details about the hardware changes at this point might be impossible for everyone. But we can expect what changes PS6 can have if Sony had paid attention to some major problems of PS5. And some changes are made after every new PlayStation release. But please don’t consider it as a sure change.

Storage Enhancements:

One of the main problems that PS5 suffers from is expanding hard disk space. Though PlayStations provide the option to upgrade hard drives the process is not that much easy for everyone. You can also use an external hard drive but you may then need to compromise with the performance speed.

That’s why Sony should pay attention to this by providing an easier method to upgrade hard drives, like through a plug-and-go model.

Virtual Reality (VR) Integrated:

Nowadays, gaming is expanding in the virtual reality platform. But still, we had bought separate devices to connect with computers or consoles to experience virtual reality. So, having these motion controllers and headsets available in the same box as the console would be a great gift from Sony.

Updated UI and better Navigation:

It’s very common to have a refreshed UI with the release of every new version of any technology. And it's necessary too because the new PlayStation console has a cycle of half a decade. The PlayStation play store also needs a rework and hopefully, it will be there in the next update with better options to navigate through the store.

Better and Smaller Design:

The PS5 is the largest gaming console ever, reportedly. But bigger doesn’t always mean better and PS5 makes it impossible for those who don’t have a special shelving unit for it and, we know, not many of us do. So, we expect from Sony that PlayStation 6 will have a much better and smaller design that can work for everyone.

Adding Bluetooth audio support:

The most recently launched consoles need you to plug in a USB dongle to connect to Sony’s wireless headsets. You can only use the headsets wirelessly (completely) that are provided with the PlayStation itself.

That’s why Sony should look at this and find a solution before releasing the next PlayStation.

What are the rumors about the PS6 looks?

Saying anything about the looks of PS6 before its release has no points. No one, even maybe Sony, can tell you specifically about the design and looks of the next generation PlayStation. But YES! definitely going to rework the current design.
